NATIONAL WEDDING DRESS DAY 2006

Last year Take a Break launched their own campaign to get as many women as possible to put on their wedding dresses, bridesmaid dresses, or even Mother of the Bride outfits, to celebrate National Wedding Dress Day and raise money for charity. We joined in and had a brilliant evening with friends and family raising over £1100.00 for MacMillan Cancer Support.

Once in town we ventured into pubs and gradually made our way to the pier for the last night of the summer Fireworks. It was a tiring evening but still in great spirits, we even managed to squeeze in a live interview on 2CR Radio and watch the fireworks!

After that we walked back through town collecting more money off late night revellers and blagged free taxis home! Thanks to all those lovely people we met that night.

I organised a march around Bournemouth town centre with 15 ladies in wedding dresses, bridesmaids dresses and a mother of the bride. After reception drinks and speeches we took a yellow bus to Bournemouth, collecting and surprising people as we went.

All of that was the easy bit – the hard bit was counting all of the money the next day from 15 tins! It was fun though as everyone helped and as we counted and topped £1000.00 we were estatic and it certainly spurred us on, with your help, to go bigger and better in 2007!
